Earlier today i submitted my PDP assignment as a link through the gateway.

This will most probably be the final post of my PDP blog.

Submission Day

I really think the university could have come up with a more user friendly way of connecting students online. CuOnline never works as it should.

I will post a couple more times today but overall i am disapointed in my own work in this project. The main reason i am so annoyed at myself for not doing more in this project is because out of my current modules this project has taught me the most about myself as a filmmaker and a worker.

Today i was truely surprised

I have always maintained that i disliked broadcast media as a subject (i always have). But today in our practical session i was genuinely interested and having fun working as part of a team to create a short video.

Then later in the afternoon in a group work session i really felt my ideas were heard i felt like i was part of a team and i was having fun.

This is why i came to university.

But, i still prefer to make short fictional films.

This will however be an interesting experience.

I am going to post once more every day until final submission.

I always intended for this blog to be filled with film reviews, information about personal projects i was working on, different events i was planning to be part of.

But it seems i never quite "got round to it".

I planned to catch up a bit during the 3 week easter break. I had my old laptop computer at home and i planned to post throughout. However my laptop broke and i spent the whole time without a computer.

For some reason this assignment was something i would forget about all the time. Unintentionally of course. This week in particular this has been a major issue.

Second Term Ends

Tomorrow morning i have my second PDP meeting. In this my second term i feel i need to try harder in my third term to post more regularly.

What did i do today?

I watched Office Space today. Its possibly one of my favorite films of all time. This is the sort of film i would like to make some day

What happened?

I woke up this morning and i realised i hadn't made any progress on my PDP. I won't go into details about why on here as my private life is just that. I will just say that there have been alot of things happening which has made me maybe lose sight of what is most important.

I guess now would be a good time to do a swot analysis.

Strengths - Practical media skills (Eg. Camera work, editing, directing, lighting, sound recording, etc)

Weaknesses - Low attention span. When i get given new work to do i unfortunately seem to forget the work i was already set. Well, it's not that i totally forget, more that i just don't remember at times when it would be useful. I tend to remember work i have got to do in the middle of the night, when i cannot do anything about it. I make notes that i forget to look at and always tell myself "i'll get right to that in the morning" But i never do.

Opportunities - Right now i am lucky that i am noticing these problems in my second term of my first year. This means i still have one term to sort myself out without having to panic about my final grade.

Techniques - I figure i need constant reminding about work that has to be done, therefore i have downloaded a new widget for my iMac to give me reminders about upcoming deadlines and reminders about work i should be doing every time i turn on my computer. Hopefully this won't become too annoying as time goes on.

As this is a media blog i think it would be apropriate to list all the films/dvds/tv shows i have watched during the last 2 terms of uni. (that i remember)
